Greetings from Great Ocean Road Real Estate, Torquay!

The Election for 2016 has been announced and a lot of policy debate about, including plenty of talk relative to super, negative gearing and capital gains tax! All big issues for real estate. In relation to negative gearing, it would seem that a lot of people seem to think it is a benefit for the rich when in fact the majority of people who negative gear a residential property are on incomes of $80k a year or less, own one property and have a clear goal to set up income for retirement – ergo, saving the government money. Negative gearing contributes greatly to rental housing stock which is crucial in an environment of low supply and surely without negative gearing rents will rise as investors seek to cover more of the cost of an investment? Anyway, we are keen to hear from anyone with a considered opinion on the matter(s)!
